Audrey Justine Tautou (born Audrey Justine Tautou) is an French model and actress. Her fame was boosted with her portrayal as a charming, shy waitress Amelie in which she won many awards. Tautou is often compared times with Audrey Hepburn due to her charisma as well as her beauty and acting skills. Though she was born into an educated family with dark hair, her mother and father were both teachers and dentists. The acting profession was not the first thing she expected to do. It was a lucky coincidence that she discovered her passion for acting while in school, and made the decision to become a professional actress. She took acting classes at Cours Florent. Then, she was offered the role of Coeur de cible in a television production. The actress made her debut in a feature film with Venus Beauty Institute for which she was much appreciated. She is known for her willingness to play a range of roles. From the romantic comedy Amelie through to the thriller Dirty Pretty Things. France is her birthplace, and she was a star in French films for a few years before her Hollywood debut starring Tom Hanks.
